Jesus has come to give you rest. Rest from having to prove yourself to God. Rest from having to measure up to some religious standards you cannot keep. Rest from your weariness and rest from your burdens. Rest for your soul. And the reason Jesus is rest is found in the description he gives of Himself. He says, Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”

Our going is about loving people with the love of Jesus. Showing them there is alternative way of life that’s filled with kindness, grace, truth and love. Becoming friends with people far from God so that one day we might introduce them to God. Our going may take months or even years. But the timetable is not up to us. We are just simply called to live as a sent one, and trust God to do the rest.

Jesus never meant for any of His followers to help others trust or follow Him on their own. That’s why He made sure to include this promise. Jesus promises to be with us. HE wants to help us. He just needs us to TRUST that He will be RIGHT there with us to give us the words we need, the kindness we need, the patience we need, or the grace we need to help our friends or family come closer to Jesus, or to grow in their faith in Jesus.
