The one who had died was dead no longer.  It was true.  Jesus had risen from the dead.  He was standing right here in front of them.  And what was their response?  When they realized Jesus was alive, they rejoiced, just as Jesus said they would.

If Jesus had the authority to lay down his life and had authority to take up again – then you can trust in the authority of His Word.  You can count on what Jesus says.  And this should give you hope in the darkness.  For when things looked darkest for the disciples, when their world seemed to be falling apart, and when all seemed lost… Jesus rose from the grave, just as he said he would.  And if Jesus did what he said he would do by rising from the dead, you can trust him in whatever he promises.

God knows what you need.  He doesn’t want you to worry, but simply ask Him to provide what you need for today, “Give us today our daily bread.”  God is our provider.  It is a misconception to think that we provide for our needs ourselves. If you have all your basic needs met today, then God has been very good to you.  God has blessed you.  He is the one who gave you the opportunity to get a good education, to do well in your career, to put food on the table and to provide a decent nest egg for retirement. Let’s not forget that “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of heavenly lights.”  James 1:17.  If anything, if you have all you need, then you should be thankful.

When I forgive I lay the groundwork for the restoration of a relationship, just like Jesus did for us.  He forgave us so we could be reconciled to God.  He took away the barrier that separated us from God, so that nothing stood between us…  And every time you forgive another person you do the same thing. You do for them what they can’t do for themselves.   They cannot remove their offense.  But you can. When you forgive you remove it. You release the offender from his guilt, and now reconciliation can take place.

No one is outside the realm of God’s grace!  If God’s message of great joy was for these shepherds, then His message is for anyone. It doesn’t matter if you’ve never darkened a church door.  It doesn’t matter if you’ve spent all your life far from God.  It doesn’t matter how worthless you feel or how sinful you’ve been. God’s message of good news is for YOU.  It’s personal!  Jesus was born for YOU.

God created you to test positive for L.U.I.  Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.   It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.  Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.  It always protects, always… Read More »
