“There is no such thing as sin!” Now, that’s not a true statement. But you wouldn’t know it by the way our culture treats the topic of sin. Sin is just not a category of understanding in people’s minds or vocabulary today. Sin is not viewed as a tool that explains our motivations or behavior.… Read More »

Your heart is an idol factory! That is a phrase first authored by French Theologian John Calvin back in 1536. Calvin used this metaphor to explain humanity’s natural tendency to replace God with earthly desires. He meant that the human mind and heart are constantly churning out false gods—turning good things (like money, success, relationships,… Read More »

We have a sin problem! In fact, sin is not a popular subject in our day. And the reason it is not a popular subject is that if you believe there is such a thing as sin, then you have to believe there is a God who judges sin. Therefore, if you eliminate sin, you… Read More »

The one who had died was dead no longer.  It was true.  Jesus had risen from the dead.  He was standing right here in front of them.  And what was their response?  When they realized Jesus was alive, they rejoiced, just as Jesus said they would.

If Jesus had the authority to lay down his life and had authority to take up again – then you can trust in the authority of His Word.  You can count on what Jesus says.  And this should give you hope in the darkness.  For when things looked darkest for the disciples, when their world seemed to be falling apart, and when all seemed lost… Jesus rose from the grave, just as he said he would.  And if Jesus did what he said he would do by rising from the dead, you can trust him in whatever he promises.

God knows what you need.  He doesn’t want you to worry, but simply ask Him to provide what you need for today, “Give us today our daily bread.”  God is our provider.  It is a misconception to think that we provide for our needs ourselves. If you have all your basic needs met today, then God has been very good to you.  God has blessed you.  He is the one who gave you the opportunity to get a good education, to do well in your career, to put food on the table and to provide a decent nest egg for retirement. Let’s not forget that “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of heavenly lights.”  James 1:17.  If anything, if you have all you need, then you should be thankful.
