Just as Jesus command us to come to Him, learn from Him, and love like Him; He commands us to go and help others come to Him, learn from Him and love like Him. This is not something we have to do; it’s the greatest privilege of our lives.

God’s grace was so powerfully at work in them all that there were no needy persons among them.  That’s what God’s grace does!  When God’s grace takes hold in your heart, it makes you a gracious person.  Giving becomes second nature.  You want to give.  You want to help because God has helped you!

You are not the same person you once were.  You are now different.  God sees you as a holy one, a saint.  You were a sinner. But God made you a saint.  That’s what it means to embrace your new identity in Christ.  To see yourself as God sees you.  Fully alive to Him, set-apart for Him, with unlimited potential to do the works He has prepared for you.

This is what the grace of God teaches us:  There is no limit to God’s grace to us in Christ Jesus.  God has an endless fountain of grace to pour out on us in Christ. Jesus is sufficient for us.  Jesus is all we need.  For it is in Jesus whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge, grace and mercy, life and peace, hope and glory.

The Secret of Contentment

Sometimes God allows crisis like the ones we are experiencing today to teach us that contentment is NOT found in our circumstances. Sometimes crisis like this ARE A GIFT, because they remind us where true satisfaction is found.  Perhaps some of you here can relate with Paul. Maybe sometime in your past you lost everything.  Maybe you experienced a tragedy that ripped your heart out.  Maybe you know what it’s like to have nothing.  But in going through some of the worst life can throw at you, YOU ARE REMINDED that you have something more precious than anything the world can offer.  You have in Jesus, and what you have in Jesus is priceless.  That’s what Paul learned as the secret of contentment: Jesus is enough!

God sent to us the perfect offering for our sin – Jesus the sinless One; who became sin for us, to take our place, to receive our penalty, to remove God’s wrath and to set us free.  And the good news is that God did this all for you out of His love for you.

God’s Word tells us that your union with Christ connects you to a history far longer than you could ever trace in a family tree.  It stretches from eternity past to eternity future and puts everything in between into fresh perspective.  It tells you that God’s love for you stretches back before creation.  It tells you that God has always had a plan for your life.  Your life has purpose and meaning.  It tells you that God has always wanted you to be with Him.  And it tells you that God has always intended to make some thing beautiful of your life.

This is the radical, all in, love of God. It’s free. It’s yours for the taking. God offers His love to you, no strings attached.  And His love is found in Jesus.  God loves you so much, that He didn’t want to confuse you.  He made salvation simple.  Just look to Jesus.  Put your trust in Jesus.  There is no greater love than Jesus. Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:12

What manner was this power?  How was it manifested in those first followers?  It was the power of the Holy Spirit who moved them to thirst after the Word.  It was the power of the Holy Spirit who moved them to seek God constantly in prayer.  It was the power of the Holy Spirit who moved them to sell whatever they had so they could share with others in need.  It was the power of the Holy Spirit who moved them to open up their homes and include friends and neighbors in their lives.  It was the power of Christ’s love that compelled them to love one another deeply.  And it was the power who moved in their hearts to tell the good news about Jesus, to talk about the cross.
