They needed hope, and Jesus gave them hope. They needed comfort and Jesus gave them comfort. They wanted healing, but Jesus gave them something better, when He called Lazarus forth from the grave, He put to end our greatest fear, the fear of death.

If what Jesus claims here is true, and He says it is true, then Jesus is the great “I am?” Jesus is divine. He is God in the flesh. He is the eternal God who has always existed – the eternal God who reigns over all creation, and Almighty God who will one day return and to judge the living and the dead. But He is also the God of grace who has made it possible for you to never see death.

God has already given us all we need to never walk in darkness. He’s given us Jesus, He’s given us eternal life, He’s given us His presence and He’s given us hope. And now all we need to never walk in darkness is to follow Jesus.
