John takes great delight that Jesus is now centerstage.  He’s done His job.  It’s no longer important who he is or what he has done. The only thing that matters to him is that people are coming to Jesus.

When we follow Jesus, we don’t just get a relationship with Jesus, and we don’t just get help from Jesus, we get to learn from Jesus.  That’s why there must be a willingness in us to yoke ourselves with Jesus – to surrender to Jesus. For when we trust Jesus, Jesus entrusts His heart to us.

Does the gospel make any difference in how you live today?  Does the fact that God saved you when you could not save yourself, make you more thankful?  Or do you still feel like God owes you a living or is holding out on you? Or let me ask you this:  If you’ve been forgiven… Read More »

God’s grace was so powerfully at work in them all that there were no needy persons among them.  That’s what God’s grace does!  When God’s grace takes hold in your heart, it makes you a gracious person.  Giving becomes second nature.  You want to give.  You want to help because God has helped you!

Jesus has shown us another way:  He lived to serve others and to please the Father.  And it all started with His mindset. His mind was set on how he might give of himself not on what He could get for himself.  And so he became a Servant of All and the Savior of All.  And because of this, God made Him Lord of all.

God has given us a different way of thinking, a way that’s not looking out for number one but is looking out for others. It’s a mindset that’s no longer trying to make yourself look good but is more into doing good.  And it’s this kind of mindset that God wants to develop in us.  For it’s the mindset of Jesus.

  • Romans 12:3-5

We all belong to Jesus, and we all belong to one another.  That means every single Christ-follower is significant and necessary.  I need you and you need me.  We all need each other.  And since God’s Word says you are a member of Christ’s body, your life now has tremendous significance.  Now, because the grace and love of Jesus Christ is in you, and God wants His grace and love to flow through you to bless, heal and help others.

Our sin makes us equals at the foot of the cross.  It is here where our sin is forgiven.  It’s here we see ourselves in relationship to a holy God and humility is born.  When you spend time in the shadow of the cross, you are not looking down at anyone else, but looking up to the one who gave you mercy for your sin.

We are linked to this same story… The same God who delivered Israel by His mighty hand is the same God who delivers us.  God delivered us by the mighty hand of Jesus: Jesus came to rescue us from this present evil age.  By His death he not only forgave us, but rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of light.  This is what Jesus did.
