We don’t choose Jesus.  Jesus chooses us.  Jesus comes into our world of darkness.  He comes to deliver us, to rescue us, to save us.  Left to ourselves we will not seek a relationship with God.  In our darkness we will choose sin over God; every time.

God sent Jesus to do for you what you could not do for yourself to set you free and make you His very own.  So, then, if God did not spare His own Son but gave Him up for us all, how will He not also with Him graciously give us all things?  This is why the Church is the hope of the world!  For every single human being longs to be loved, to be valued, to belong.  And that’s what God did for you through the gospel.

Jesus has shown us another way:  He lived to serve others and to please the Father.  And it all started with His mindset. His mind was set on how he might give of himself not on what He could get for himself.  And so he became a Servant of All and the Savior of All.  And because of this, God made Him Lord of all.

True wisdom is the ability to put the knowledge of God’s will to work in your life in a way that it impacts others for good.  And it’s observable.  You can tell if someone has a wisdom that works if their faith is actively benefiting another believer.

If you belong to Him through faith in Jesus, then you can be confident that God is with you.  You don’t have to be afraid of anything. Nothing.  Absolutely nothing – not death, not the loss of loved ones, not being without someone to care for you. Because God is with you, you can live without fear.

The Bible, God’s Living Word, is not a book of rules, but a roadmap to a relationship with God. That’s what the Bible is all about.  God wants you to know Him, God wants your life to thrive and bear fruit, God wants to include you in His story. That is why God has spoken through His Son; and why the Bible is God’s love letter to you.

You want to make disciples like Jesus?  Maybe all you need to do is make room in your life for just one person who is lost.  Open your home, open your heart, open your life. That’s how Jesus made disciples.  He made room in his life for a sinner, and that sinner found salvation.

But the biggest transformation Jesus makes is in our relationship with God: God is no longer some abstract, unapproachable judge. He becomes our Father, our “abba” who delights in us, sings over us, and gives us access to His presence. So with transformed affection for God we find ourselves wanting to pray, delighting in praise and growing in thanks for all He has given us in Jesus.  And as a result of this new affection, we find ourselves wanting to please Him in every way.

Because they feared God more than Pharaoh, they did a beautiful and splendid thing. In fact, that’s what their names mean:  Shiphrah means “beautiful one” and Puah means “splendid one.”  Here then, is the first act of civil disobedience.  Pharaoh gave them a direct order, and they disobeyed it. Pharaoh was the most powerful man in the world. He could have them executed with the wave of a hand.  But Shiphrah and Puah dared risk their lives for the babies, all because they feared God.
