Is your heart OPEN to hearing from God? Or is your heart CLOSED?   That’s the difference between skepticism and faith. A skeptic doesn’t want to hear from God, because a skeptic wants to hold on to his or her preconceived ideas about God. A skeptic walks on dangerous ground, because his or her skepticism reveals a suspicious or stubborn attitude that refuses to believe even if the truth is starring them in the face.  We all know people like this.  Perhaps you are a person like this.

Jesus has always been “with” the Father. That’s why God sent Jesus to us, so that when we receive Him, we too can be “with” the Father. Christianity is not a religion we adhere to, but a relationship we enter into: a relationship with God.

If you believe that Jesus is the heir of all things, including your life – that means you belong to Him. He created you. He gave you your personality, your passions and your abilities. You are fearfully and wonderfully made. And that means when you trust Jesus to lead your life, no one knows you better than Him. And because He loves you with a sacrificial love, no one will love you better than him.

What does Jesus save us for? He saves you for a relationship with God. He saves you to bring you God – so you that can know Him, treasure Him and rest in His loving and secure arms now and forever. He saves you so you can know what its like to be His beloved child. And He saves you so can enjoy a new life: a life where you can learn to live and love like Jesus; a life of freedom, a life of meaning and life of adventure, walking with Him and learning to be a blessing to others as you follow Him. That’s why Jesus is the point.

God wants us to be a faith-filled people: People who trust Him with every aspect of our lives. People who trust Him with our marriages, who trust Him with our families, people who trust Him with our finances, people who trust Him with our time, people who trust Him with our habits and hobbies. Because when we trust Him in everything, we honor Him fully. That’s worship! That’s the kind of worshiper God desires.

It is well and good to praise God for the good things in our lives – a loving family, great friendships, financial success, a great church. But here David shows that a man with a heart after God doesn’t praise God just when things are going well. Here he praises God when life isn’t going his way. This is why David is a great example OF EVERYDAY PRAISE.

I remember my first Christmas after coming to faith in Jesus. It was amazing. What made it amazing wasn’t the gifts, and it wasn’t getting together with family, and it wasn’t the great feast we all enjoyed. No what made it so amazing was THE JOY. For the first time in my life all the… Read More »

The eyes of God are on me to prosper me and not to harm me. That’s good news.

We are the ones entrusted with the praise of God. We are the one’s who know the God of wonder, of splendor, of majesty. Yet, when God’s people are silent, the rest of the world just ahead as if God does not exist. But when we praise God we awaken others to God’s wonders. When we praise God we tell others there is One who satisfies the deepest longings of our hearts. When we praise God we tells others there is a power that delivers beyond the empty promises of this world. And when we praise God we speak of THE ONE who can heal every heart, renew every hope, and reconcile any relationship.

Mary Did You Know?

  • virgin birth
  • Luke 1:26-38

This beautiful picture of God favoring Mary, of God conceiving His Son in the womb of a virgin, changes everything. God is not indifferent to our plight. One of the most common questions about the evil that is so prevalent in our world is this: “Why didn’t God do something to stop or prevent that evil from happening?” Well the miracle of the virgin birth proves that He did. God’s Son entered our world through the womb of a humble country girl. Jesus was born in a dirty stable on the backside of a forgotten little town. He gave up the riches of heaven to come and experience life just like us. He moved into the neighborhood, and served the unloved, the broken hearted, and the nobodies of this world, all the while knowing that one day He would be crucified at the hands of wicked men, so that through His death, he could put an end to evil.
