God has revealed His kindness and love to us in Jesus. God has given us mercy in Jesus. God has washed us clean through Jesus. God has made us alive with Jesus. God has declared us innocent of guilt and made us totally acceptable in His presence. And now the gospel has given us a place to belong with God forever. The more you allow grace to do its work in you, the more the passions of the world begin to loosen their grip on you. The cravings of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the boasting of what you have and do – those things that so characterize the pursuits of the world… they are weakened and even put to death by grace.

When I remember WHAT God saved me from, WHO He was willing to sacrifice for me, HOW much he has forgiven me, and ALL He has given me… then every time I encounter an SELFISH, PRIDEFUL, MALICE-FILLED, HATE-FILLED FOOL, that would normally be intolerable – I can see them with new eyes – the eyes of the redeemed, then I too can give them the same kindness God gave me.

What does Jesus save us for? He saves you for a relationship with God. He saves you to bring you God – so you that can know Him, treasure Him and rest in His loving and secure arms now and forever. He saves you so you can know what its like to be His beloved child. And He saves you so can enjoy a new life: a life where you can learn to live and love like Jesus; a life of freedom, a life of meaning and life of adventure, walking with Him and learning to be a blessing to others as you follow Him. That’s why Jesus is the point.
