God rarely works the way we expect Him to work, God rarely works on our timetable, and more times than not God works through the most difficult of circumstances – for it is then He gets the glory.  So the next time trouble comes, don’t get discouraged, don’t let your faith crumble at the first sign of adversity, but trust that He has everything under control

Whenever God calls you to serve, you serve under His authority.  That’s what the staff represented to Moses. It was a constant reminder that he was serving under God’s call and his ministry was not really his ministry – it was God’s.  And if you can understand that, it takes the pressure off.  Whenever God calls you to serve, you serve under His authority.  He will help you succeed, because the ministry He calls you to, is what He wants done.  Your success in ministry is not up to you; it’s up to Him.

Our power to bring God’s message of deliverance is found in the cross.  Our confidence to bring the message comes from the reality of the empty tomb, of the resurrected Jesus who promises to be with us!  God GAVE TO Moses what he needed to bolster his faith with these three signs.  God GAVE TO US the death and resurrection of Jesus to build our confidence.  If you are struggling to do your part in God’s story… if you lack faith in what you bring to the table turn your eyes on Jesus. When we think we can’t do it, think of what Jesus has done. Focus on the cross – remember what Jesus did for you. Remember that He rose from the grave. That’s an incredible power over death!  And now we have that same power available to us.

If God had shown Moses that he was fully qualified for his calling, what would have happened? It would have led Moses to trust in his gifts, to trust in himself and his abilities, rather than trust in his God.

God still comes down to awaken those He calls to join Him in bringing people out of bondage and into a new life with Christ. God still meets people in their sin, redeems them by faith in Jesus and invites them to join Him  in calling people out of darkness to bring them into the Promised Land – the Kingdom of the Son He loves.  God still calls broken people, sin-scared people, and forgotten people, just like Moses, to join Him in His story.

God wasn’t finished with Moses.  Moses was a murderer, Moses was a fugitive, Moses was a stranger in a strange land.  Now this was a new beginning for Moses.  It appeared that he had lost everything, but now God was about to give him a whole new beginning.

God can still use your influence, if not with your grandchildren, perhaps right here in the lives of children here in Eloy.  Even if one person here today gave of themselves to mentor, pray for, or even teach a young person in our community, can you imagine the impact that would have?  If God worked through Moses’ family, He can still work through you!

Because they feared God more than Pharaoh, they did a beautiful and splendid thing. In fact, that’s what their names mean:  Shiphrah means “beautiful one” and Puah means “splendid one.”  Here then, is the first act of civil disobedience.  Pharaoh gave them a direct order, and they disobeyed it. Pharaoh was the most powerful man in the world. He could have them executed with the wave of a hand.  But Shiphrah and Puah dared risk their lives for the babies, all because they feared God.
