God put us together in His body so that every one of us is necessary. You need my gift and I need yours. No one has all the gifts. There is no such thing as a super-Christian. God in His wisdom has created a new kind of community where the least serves the strongest, and the strongest serves the least. So the point is this: To discover your gift, you just need to start serving God’s people.

You see power, force, getting an edge, grabbing hold of something to gain an advantage is the world’s way of getting ahead. But it’s not the way of Jesus. Jesus’ way was to empty himself, to let go of his advantage, to lay aside the powers of his deity, to lay aside the privilege of his status – so He could serve us.

When we place our lives before Him we do so with a sense of dedication. We are set ourselves apart for His service. Now when we serve, you see, it’s not for the needs of the Church, its not just to be involved or to receive a rewarding benefit for serving. It’s so that we can serve and worship God.
