The Resurrection Life is An Awakened Life
August 22, 2015
This is a prayer of good news. It lays out for us the potential every believer has to know God in a real and tangible way – in the center of our being: our true selves.
1.He prays… That We May Be Awakened to HIS CALLING for US
The Hope to which God has called us is different from the hope of the world. God has secured our hope for us through the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Because He is risen and is sitting at the right hand of God today – we have a hope that is living, eternal and unshakable.
As the Spirit awakens us to the hope of His Calling we will have great confidence!
Such internal confidence has fortified believers through the centuries to endure suffering, stand strong in persecution and look death in the face. With is this hope we will not fear man. We will not fear the outcomes of Court decisions. We will not fear death. Our God is for us. Our God is our Hope.
2. He prays… That We May Be Awakened to HIS INHERITANCE for US
We need the Spirit to awaken our hearts to this reality – that we, His Saints, His Holy People already have it all. We share Christ’s life, Christ’s righteousness, Christ’s joy, Christ’s heritage, and Christ’s access to the throne of grace. We are now royalty.
As the Spirit awakens us to the riches of His inheritance we will have great contentment!
God didn’t bless us so richly in Christ, just to have a better life here on earth. He blessed us so richly in Christ so that we’d be free to make a difference with our lives here on earth.
3. He prays… That We May Be Awakened to HIS POWER for US
He is the power that ensures our hope. His resurrected life guarantees our inheritance is secure. It resides in Him. We reside in Him. He is in the position of ultimate authority. Jesus is on the throne. He is exalted. He is Lord over all and yet He is our Lord. No matter what evil we face, no matter how out of control this world gets, we need not fear. Nothing can defeat Him or unseat Him. For Jesus has no rival. And the good news is this: This is no abstract power, but a relational power, because we have been bound forever to this one who defeated death.
As the Spirit awakens us to the greatness of His power we will have great courage!
