The Power of Few Words
December 28, 2025
At times, few words can communicate powerful ideas.
Let’s now examine three small words from Scripture that are filled with significance for our lives.
Our first word is “FOR.”
“You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:6-8 NIV).
“Christ didn’t come to make bad people better, but to make dead people alive” (Voddie Baucham).
Our second word is “IN.”
“To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. He is the one we proclaim, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ. To this end I strenuously contend with all the energy Christ so powerfully works in me” (Colossians 1:27-29 NIV).
“When once the light of God dawns upon your heart you see yourself in Christ…You know it because God revealed it to you by His Spirit… (Watchman Nee).
Our third word is “THROUGH.”
“Therefore I glory in Christ Jesus in my service to God. I will not venture to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me in leading the Gentiles to obey God by what I have said and done” (Romans 15:17-18 NIV).
“You see, for seven years, with utmost sincerity, you have been trying to live for Me, on My behalf, the life that I have been waiting for seven years to live through you” (Testimony of Major W. Ian Thomas of what God spoke to his heart).
As we prepare to enter the new year of 2026, let us do so by remembering the Christian life is about what God has done FOR us, and what God desires to do IN us and THROUGH us to the honor and praise of His glory!
