What Paul is praying for here is transformation.  That we would be changed by the love of Christ ourselves. That the more we experience Christ’s love in our own lives, the more we will be filled with the love of Christ.  And when we are filled with the love of Christ, we become love.  That’s the goal: that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.  For God is love!

But the biggest transformation Jesus makes is in our relationship with God: God is no longer some abstract, unapproachable judge. He becomes our Father, our “abba” who delights in us, sings over us, and gives us access to His presence. So with transformed affection for God we find ourselves wanting to pray, delighting in praise and growing in thanks for all He has given us in Jesus.  And as a result of this new affection, we find ourselves wanting to please Him in every way.

God is a God of reconciliation. He came to resolve our differences – to create peace. When we leave differences unresolved, we leave potential for the deceiver to cause division among us. So, we are to keep short accounts – to be like God and seek to reconcile differences before the day ends.
