The Witness and the Word
July 21, 2021
Just as we have witnesses who testify in a court of law, we have biblical witnesses who testify regarding God and His Son, Jesus Christ
What we have seen with our eyes, what we beheld and our hands handled, concerning the Word of Life. And the life was manifested, and we have seen and bear witness and proclaim to you the eternal life which was with the Father and was manifested to us. 1 John 1:1-2
Inasmuch as many have undertaken to compile a narrative of the things that have been accomplished among us, just as those who from the beginning were eyewitnesses and ministers of the word have delivered them to us, it seemed good to me also, having followed all things closely for some time past, to write an orderly account for you. Luke 1:1-3
Our walk with the Lord is based on two foundational realities:
- The work of the Holy Spirit when we trusted in Christ and our lives were changed
But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through the Holy Spirit who indwells you. Romans 8:11
- The knowledge and guidance of the Word of God We can get all excited when the Spirit is released in us, but we need the Word of God to give stability and foundation to know what we believe and why.
The Word of God is living and active and sharper than any two edged sword. Hebrews 4:12
Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, handling accurately the Word of Truth. 2 Timothy 2:15
