God’s way is to choose simple, messed up, people who’ve been wounded and wasted by sin, bring us together by the love of Christ, and then through us dazzle the world with the amazing love of Christ. This is His plan. His way… and our potential!

That’s how God’s grace worked to change Paul, and how God wants to change us: To see life, not in light of our momentary sufferings… as painful and sometimes confusing and debilitating as they sometimes are… but to see life in light of our place in the story, in light of our union with Jesus, in light of God’s plan for eternity!

Jesus connects us with one another. He is the craftsman who masterfully fits us into what He is building. What this tells me is that Jesus has a purpose in His Church for every person here. There are no misfits in His family! Every misfit actually does fit in with Jesus!

Jesus is our peace. There is now nothing separating us from God. He removed every barrier. He took away our sin and shame. Jesus brought us home.

In making us His masterpieces of grace God has recreated us to be a people who live like Jesus – and Jesus was what? He was full of grace and truth. This then is the goal for being a gospel formed people: our new way of life is a life that will be characterized by works of grace.

God didn’t bless us so richly in Christ, just to have a better life here on earth. He blessed us so richly in Christ so that we’d be free to make a difference with our lives here on earth.

Christianity at its core is not about all the good things God gives but about the giver. Christianity at its core is about knowing this Giver of every good gift. Christianity at its core is a relationship – a relationship with God the Father – it’s about knowing Him – Our Father who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in Christ.
