God wants us to constantly remember the ties that bind us together.  He wants us to remember the gospel, the good news of how we are united in Christ:  How we’ve received comfort from His love, how we’re all knit together by the Spirit, and how we’ve all been saved by God’s mercy.  Each of these experiences come from God alone and now we share these bonds so we can stand together as One.  But we also share these bonds so we might live in harmony as God’s people.

We are holy rebels living for Christ in a world that does not wish to tolerate us.  As such, we need to constantly renew our commitment to one another so we might stand our ground together. And then as we stand the Holy Spirit gives us power.  As we stand in the Spirit, we cannot be defeated.  This is how God calls us to fight – to defend ourselves against the onslaught of the enemy by holding our ground in His Spirit.

We have an opportunity to show people that there is another way to live, especially at a time like this, when life may never go back to the way it was, when our freedoms are being threatened and our lifestyle is being altered.  If our greatest treasure is Jesus, then we will rejoice in Him.  When we live for Him, we will praise and not protest, we will pray and not pout.

You may not think that your story of faith in Jesus Christ is all that significant. But during this pandemic, God may use your faithfulness, your hope, or your love to spread the gospel to a neighbor.  So let me ask you:  Are you ready to tell your story?  God has positioned you for such a time as this.  You have a story to tell, and God has someone near you who is ready to listen.

Jesus died for us while we were in rebellion against God.  Jesus took our punishment on the cross while we were still enemies of God, when the only thing we deserved was eternal separation from God…  So God chose to love us when we were at our worst.  God chose to love us when there was nothing about us that was lovable.  This is the kind of love that must inform our ability to love one another.

What would God’s reset for the church look like?  I think it might look something like this:  That we would become a Gospel-centered, Jesus exalting, all hands on deck kind of Church where everyone experiences real joy, a confident faith, and deep relationships as we work together to help people become friends, family and followers of Jesus.

You are a holy one.  You bear the image of Christ!  You are a new creation. The old you is gone, and the new has come!  You are no longer your own.  You were bought with a price.  You belong to God.  I’m reminded by this new reality that God often views us much higher than we view ourselves.  When He sees you, He sees Jesus.
